Carers NSW 2011 Biennial Conference

"Changing Society; Changing Needs – new directions in carer support"

Thursday 17 and Friday 18 March 2011
At the Novotel, Brighton-le-Sands, Sydney

Social demographic change is upon us. As our population ages and the number of people requiring care increases our care systems will be under increasing pressure.  Government policy trends in the aged care, disability, mental health and health sectors have meant that the bulk of care is, and will continue to be provided by family members and friends – Australia’s informal carers. Will the way we manage and support caring keep up with our changing society? What do we need to do in order to meet this change?

The conference aims to bring together health and community care professionals, service providers, researchers, policy advisors and Government representatives to provide an opportunity to explore practice and ideas, research and initiatives in carer support under the following key themes:

For conference enquiries contact Carers NSW on 02 9280 4744 or email conference@carersnsw.asn.au.

 Seeking interested sponsors, email conference@carersnsw.asn.au.

This conference is organised by Carers NSW, the peak organisation for people of all ages providing informal care for family members or friends with a disability, mental illness, drug and alcohol dependency, chronic condition or who are frail in NSW.

The conference is supported by NSW Health.
